Harvey announced on November 6, 2026 that Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) had selected its legal AI platform for the bank’s in-house legal team, covering institutional capital markets, investment, regulatory and commercial matters.

The deployment will support legal research, drafting, review and analysis of large document sets, delivered within existing lawyer workflows, including Microsoft Word. The platform will also make CBD’s precedents, policies and prior work product searchable and reusable across the team. Harvey expects that institutional knowledge reuse to help lawyers deliver advice faster and more consistently.

Lawyer-Designed Agents and Review Controls

CBD’s lawyers will be able to design their own AI agents for recurring legal workflows, with Harvey’s legal engineers working alongside them. Agent Builder is designed to capture an organization’s expertise and draw on its knowledge, playbooks and preferences, while connectors can provide access to Microsoft products, document-management systems and other tools already in use.

Users can preview an agent’s plan, adjust its scope and approve the work before execution. Harvey says its agents back each claim with a citation and log every step so users can verify accuracy. Those features place approval and verification points around automated work, keeping lawyers involved in decisions about scope and output.

Harvey’s general product examples relevant to CBD’s stated scope include regulatory briefings that synthesize internal policies and trusted sources into a cited action memo, and contract drafting that updates precedent language to reflect a new transaction’s term-sheet requirements. Its in-house documentation separately describes contract review against a preferred playbook, form or template, with drafting suggestions implemented through tracked changes, and large-document analysis in Vault.

Risk Assessment and Banking Governance

CBD evaluated and onboarded the deployment through its third-party risk assessment, with enterprise security and data protection as the baseline. The platform’s enterprise controls include SAML single sign-on, audit logs, IP allow-listing and data lifecycle management. Together, those measures address who can access the system, what activity can be reviewed and how data is handled.

Mikkel Andersen, CBD’s chief risk officer, said responsible adoption of AI is “an important part of building a more agile and resilient bank.” The collaboration is intended to strengthen legal and compliance capabilities, help teams handle increasing regulatory complexity and focus their expertise on strategic priorities. The collaboration is also meant to improve decision-making and support long-term growth, with governance central to the approach.

The bank’s official profile identifies CBD as a UAE-licensed financial institution offering personal and business banking, serving large corporates and providing conventional and Shariah-compliant products. Its stated governance commitments include complying with regulations and standards issued by the UAE Central Bank and the Securities and Commodities Authority. That context gives the deployment’s emphasis on supplier assessment, data protection and lawyer oversight a direct operational purpose.

The deployment makes governance part of everyday legal work rather than only a procurement checkpoint. Its practical value for CBD rests on whether lawyers can reuse more of the bank’s accumulated knowledge while still inspecting sources, adjusting agent plans and approving work before it informs legal decisions.
